About Me

COACH, ATHLETE, HUMAN….


My background is predominantly S&C based, I have spent the last 9 years working with professional athletes as well as Powerlifters, Strongman competitors and the general public helping them all to achieve their individual goals. Over time my coaching practice shifted towards strength sports which is where I specialise.


My athletic background stems from Rugby League. I played Professionally for 8 years, achieving international honours before having to retire due to numerous injuries. Powerlifting was presented to me as an alternative outlet for competition with far less injury risk. Since competing in the sport I have competed twice internationally, placing 9th at IPF Worlds and 3rd at the Commonwealth Championships. I have also placed top 3 Nationally each time out. I hold divisional records in both the Squat and Total in the U93KG category and I continue to be an active lifter and pursue my own goals just like everyone else.


I am extremely passionate about Powerlfiting and helping people to fulfil their potential. I currently coach a number of National, European and World Champions. Although I have never been in this purely to coach elite lifters, it is a great feeling seeing my clients reach these heights. I enjoy working with a diverse group who posses a broad spectrum of goals, approaches and mindsets. The goal always has to be consistent improvement over time whilst enjoying the ride.

I make a point of getting to know each of my athletes individually. Knowing what drives people, their motivations, expectations and long term ambitions is a big part of the process.

This is the approach I use most widely with my clients. The process has to be adaptable. Coaching has evolved from simple programming with minimal guidance, there is now a huge emphasis on problem solving and building the coach/athlete relationship in order to maximise the potential of the coaching process. Being able to develop athletes who are outliers as well as those who respond well to basic principles requires an advanced skill set.

This package involves an adaptable approach whereby I work closely with clients on a weekly basis, providing feedback regularly and fine tuning the process based on communication and data collection. Training is presented in a detailed format which can be adapted as necessary, lifting footage will be reviewed weekly with feedback provided to ensure a close eye is kept on technique in case any changes/suggestions are needed. Mobility an warm up protocols are also prescribed where required, a healthy athlete is a happy athlete.
